Cigna Healthcare, the health benefits division of The Cigna Group, has appointed Dr. Stanley Crittenden as Chief Medical Officer, bringing a veteran physician executive to lead clinical strategy for the Connecticut-based health insurer.
Dr. Crittenden will oversee the evolution and implementation of Cigna Healthcare's clinical solutions and programs, using data and analytics to develop innovative approaches for clients. He will also partner with leaders across The Cigna Group to expand access to care and simplify the healthcare experience for customers and physicians.
Dr. Amy Flaster, Chief Medical Officer of The Cigna Group, welcomed the appointment. "Dr. Crittenden brings a strong combination of clinical expertise, operational leadership, and a deep commitment to improving health outcomes for patients," she said. Dr. Crittenden comes to Cigna Healthcare from Quantum Health, a national healthcare navigation company, where he served as enterprise Chief Medical Officer. He has also held senior leadership roles at Evergreen Nephrology, Anthem, and Humana.

Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Nephrology, and Clinical Hypertension, Dr. Crittenden completed his training at Weill Cornell Medicine and the University of Chicago, and earned his M.D. from Tulane University.
