Breakthrough T1D Connecticut and Western Massachusetts Chapter hosted its 2026 Community Summit in Bristol, Connecticut, bringing together patients, providers, and advocates to advance education and support for type 1 diabetes within the healthcare community.
The March 1 event convened individuals living with or impacted by type 1 diabetes, along with caregivers, healthcare providers, and industry representatives. The summit featured expert-led discussions focused on emerging therapies, evolving technologies, and practical strategies for managing the condition and maintaining overall health.
Jon Muskrat, Chapter Executive Director, reflected on the event’s impact, saying, “This year’s Summit demonstrated the impact that true collaboration can have. When the T1D community, our volunteers, and our partners unite, we create the momentum needed to drive meaningful breakthroughs forward.”
Attendees also heard from keynote speaker Kyle Banks, a Broadway actor and vocalist living with type 1 diabetes, who shared personal insights with the audience. Organizers emphasized the importance of creating a welcoming and informative environment for participants across all stages of their healthcare journey.
In addition to educational programming, the event included interactive activities designed to engage families and younger attendees. A dedicated Kids Activities room offered a collaborative mural project, a sing-along session, and a read-aloud featuring author Danakelly Hampton.
The summit aimed to strengthen connections across Connecticut’s type 1 diabetes community while highlighting ongoing progress in care and research.
