The Connecticut Insurance Department (CID) has launched new Health Insurance Cost Estimator Tools within its Consumer Information Center, giving Connecticut residents centralized access to health care cost information through their health insurance companies.
The tools connect consumers directly to participating insurers' existing member cost estimator resources. Eligible members can log in through their health insurer to view estimated out-of-pocket costs for common medical procedures and services based on their specific health plan. The resource also allows consumers to understand how costs may vary depending on where care is received.
The tools are accessible through the CID Consumer Information Center, which features information and resources across major lines of insurance, including health, auto, homeowners, flood, life insurance, annuities, and long-term care coverage. The department said it will continue expanding the platform with additional resources and consumer tools.
"Consumers deserve clear and accessible information about their healthcare costs," said Connecticut Insurance Commissioner Josh Hershman. "By providing direct access to insurer cost estimator tools in one place, this resource helps Connecticut residents better understand potential out-of-pocket expenses and make more informed decisions about their care."
