The Cigna Group Foundation has awarded an additional $3 million in local grants to expand mental health and housing support for veterans, including several organizations serving Connecticut. This new round of funding is part of the Foundation’s three‑year, $9 million commitment to strengthen community-based efforts that improve stability, health, and well-being for veterans and their families.

Ellie Polack, president, The Cigna Group Foundation, said, “We are honored to help ensure those who have served our country have a roof over their heads and access to quality mental health care. By supporting nonprofits dedicated to this mission, we are helping to create lasting, community-level change that honors and uplifts America’s veterans and their families.”

The nonprofit grantees were selected for their work addressing core health-related social needs, including mortgage and rental assistance, home repairs to ensure safe and dignified living conditions, adaptations for veterans with severe injuries or disabilities, and legal or case management services that help veterans access public benefits. These efforts are increasingly vital as veterans nationwide face higher risks of homelessness, mental distress, and suicidal ideation.

In Connecticut, funding will support the Connecticut Veterans Legal Center, The WorkPlace, and Veterans Rebuilding Life. These organizations will expand programs that help veterans maintain stable housing, navigate benefits, and access essential mental health resources.

With unmet mental health needs growing across the country, The Cigna Group Foundation’s targeted investments aim to strengthen community health infrastructure and improve outcomes for those who have served.
