Encompass Health, the nation’s largest operator of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, has officially opened its first location in Connecticut: the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Danbury. The new 40-bed, 50,500-square-foot hospital is now accepting patients and marks the company’s 170th hospital nationwide.
Located in Danbury, the facility offers comprehensive rehabilitative care for individuals recovering from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and complex orthopedic conditions. Patients receive a minimum of three hours of intensive therapy five days a week, 24-hour nursing care, and regular visits from physicians. Each care plan is customized by an interdisciplinary team of nurses, therapists, and physicians, with the goal of improving functional ability and quality of life.
Amenities include 40 private rooms, an in-house dialysis suite, a pharmacy, dayroom areas, and a therapy gym equipped with advanced rehabilitation technologies. The hospital also features a therapy courtyard and an activities of daily living suite designed to simulate real-world spaces.
“We're thrilled to bring Encompass Health's high-quality inpatient rehabilitation services to the state of Connecticut,” said Mat Gooch, president of Encompass Health's Northeast region. “This hospital will fulfill an important need in the community, enabling patients in the greater Danbury area to recover from serious illnesses and injuries close to their loved ones.”
