Stamford Health has earned Magnet Recognition® from the American Nurses Credentialing Center for the third time since 2016, placing the Connecticut hospital among a small group of institutions nationally recognized for nursing excellence and quality patient care.

The designation puts Stamford Hospital among the 10.5% of registered U.S. hospitals to hold Magnet status and one of only seven in Connecticut to earn the distinction. Achieving the designation three times places it among 3% of U.S. hospitals to reach that milestone. Magnet Recognition is awarded through a rigorous evaluation of outcomes, quality, safety, patient satisfaction, employee engagement, and interprofessional collaboration. Site appraisers noted that Stamford Health outperformed national benchmarks in seven of the ANCC Magnet exemplars, including key patient safety and quality indicators.

"Achieving Magnet® re-designation is a significant honor and a reflection of the excellence demonstrated by our nurses, physicians, and clinicians," said Ellen Komar, Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Stamford Health. "I am deeply grateful for the compassionate care and expertise our interdisciplinary care teams bring to Stamford Health and our patients."

"As an independent hospital, Magnet® designation is especially meaningful for Stamford Health as it shows how our commitment to nursing excellence, safety, and teamwork meets the highest quality care," said Kathleen Silard, President and CEO of Stamford Health. "Thank you to our many dedicated nursing and clinical professionals for their shared dedication to helping us advance our vision of being the most trusted healthcare partner for the communities we serve."

Stamford Hospital holds several additional national recognitions, including a ranking as the number one hospital in Fairfield County by U.S. News and World Report, Planetree Gold certification for person-centered care, a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and an "A" rating from The Leapfrog Group.
