Stamford Hospital has been ranked the #1 hospital in Fairfield County and #4 in Connecticut in the U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals 2025–2026” rankings. Recognized in 12 areas overall, this marks the hospital’s best performance to date in the annual report, which evaluates nearly 6,000 hospitals nationwide.

Stamford Hospital earned new “high performing” ratings in seven procedures and conditions: abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, diabetes, heart arrhythmia, kidney failure, leukemia/lymphoma/myeloma, stroke, and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). The hospital also maintained high performing designations from last year in heart failure, hip fracture, hip replacement, and pneumonia.

“These recognitions represent Stamford Hospital’s highest achievement yet in the U.S. News & World Report rankings,” said Kathleen Silard, President & CEO of Stamford Health. “We are incredibly proud of our interdisciplinary care teams, whose expertise and dedication to safe, high-quality, and compassionate care make honors like this possible.”

The hospital’s excellence in orthopedics was once again highlighted through its ongoing partnership with Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), ranked #1 in the U.S. for orthopedics and #3 in rheumatology. Stamford’s strategic collaborations also include Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center and Columbia University Irving Medical Center

“Our physicians, nurses, and staff come to work every day focused on one thing: delivering the highest standard of care to every patient,” said Rod Acosta, MD, Chief Physician Executive. “These rankings are a reflection of that shared purpose.”
