The Cigna Group Foundation, the philanthropic arm of The Cigna Group, awarded $1.5 million to six Greater Hartford nonprofits for projects that expand access to care through mobile clinics, transportation to health visits and wellness programs. The foundation expects the projects to reach more than 2,000 residents over two years.

Chrysalis Center will coordinate non-emergency rides for approximately 500 Hartford adults each year to medical appointments, behavioral health and recovery services, and pharmacies. Hartford Public Library will expand its Health on the Go Plus program to provide rides, bus passes and bilingual help understanding health benefits.

“Our roots in Connecticut run deep, as does our commitment to the communities where our colleagues live and work,” said Sara Quist, senior director of community programs and president of The Cigna Group Foundation, “Through this investment, we’re helping local organizations turn that commitment into practical support for Greater Hartford residents.”

Malta House of Care will add a Community Health Access Navigator for uninsured East Hartford adults, InterCommunity will pilot a Community Health Navigator for approximately 400 Hartford residents, and the University of Connecticut Foundation will develop a guide to help Hartford health systems improve language access.

The grants build on Health Equity Impact Fund investments made since 2024. That year, Malta House of Care delivered 320 primary care visits through its East Hartford mobile clinic, and Hartford Public Library provided more than 1,500 rides to health visits and more than 600 bus passes.
